Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bareilly |
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Bareilly was established on 20th December, 1985 at ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute Izatnagar. It comes under ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Kanpur (Zone-III) and working under the administrative control of ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI). Prior to the establishment of KVK, the two ICAR Transfer of Technology (TOT) projects viz. Operational Research Project (ORP) on livestock and fodder improvement and Lab to Land programs (LLP) were functioning under the Joint Directorate of Extension Education since 1975-76 and 1979-80, respectively. As a policy matter the activities of ORP, LLP and KVK were being performed separately were merged together under the umbrella of KrishiVigyan Kendra during 1993-94. However, non-allotment of required land and the absence of KVK’s own instructional unit was affecting the KVK work and thus attracted attention of administration at the top which led to certain specific changes and earmarking of 46 acre land at IVRI campus for KVK during 1993-94. The KVK Bareilly utilized this land for infrastructure development. Presently, KVK is equipped with training hall (2 No.) with all the modern audio visual aids, Soil testing lab, Home science lab and instructional farm to showcase the technologies to the farmers. The instructional farm is unique in terms of live demonstration of Integrated Farming System Model.
In view of the evolving mandate, the KVK emphasizes on vocational training to Technology Assessment and Demonstration for its Application and Capacity Development in Bareilly district. KVK, Bareilly engaged in conducting assessment of location specific technology generated by ICAR institutes or state agricultural universities and its micro location refinement on farm real problem basis for final validation of technologies for large scale adoption among the farmers. Over the period of time the KVK, Bareilly also established good linkages with the line departments and started the activities in convergence mode with line departments for effective utilization of its resources for the benefit of farmers. KVK is also using social media plateform i.e. Whats App, Facebook, You Tube channel, Twitter etc. for increasing it’s reach and dissemination of technologies among the farming community. KVK Bareilly has been awarded with “PanditDeenDayalUpadhyayRashtriyaKrishiVigyanProtsahanPuraskar (Zonal)in 2010 and 2018.
